Stamping includes a number of sheet–metal forming processes such as blanking, punching, piercing, deep drawing, bending, flanging and coining. The parts could be made using a single stage operation where every stroke of a press produces a completed part or through a series of stages. The process is usually carried out on sheet metal but can be used on other materials such as punch-able plastics.
